Mother Daughter Matching Dresses
I never thought that I would choose mother daughter matching outfits for my daughter and me, but I am considering buying matching dresses for a wedding. I was asked to be matron of honor for a dear friend this year and she wants my daughter to be the flower girl. We looked at a number of dresses but one mother daughter matching pair of dresses stands out above the rest.
Mother daughter matching outfits may be appropriate for the wedding and I think that the bride has already chosen the mother daughter matching dresses that stand out in our memories. I am more than happy to oblige the bride by wearing mother daughter matching dresses for the ceremony and for the reception. I think that it will be a nice touch.
My daughter will be two-and-a-half years old by the time my friend gets married. The mother daughter matching dresses may not be quite so obvious since my daughter will be so little. If she were a teenager, mother daughter matching outfits would be out of the question. Somehow mother daughter matching outfits seem more appropriate for younger children than it is for teens. I definitely don’t want to look as if I am trying to dress young.
Since I am the matron of honor, I guess that my dress can vary from the other bridesmaids, if the bride sees fit. This would address the mother daughter matching dresses dilemma. The other bridesmaids could wear gowns similar to our gowns, but not exact. Hopefully, everything will go off without a hitch.
We also have to consider the other bridesmaids. If I am wearing matching dresses with my child, they in essence, will be too. The other bridesmaids may not find the mother daughter matching outfits as appealing as the bride does. I may not have a problem with having identical dresses for the ceremony and the reception, but the other bridesmaids might.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to find a balance in the mother daughter matching outfits. For now, if we wear identical clothes, it will be for holidays and special events. After all, she’s only little for a short while. After she is a teenager, the mother daughter matching outfits will be out of the question.
If there is a good response to the mother daughter matching outfits, I may choose to dress in identical outfits for other occasions. I’m thinking about having mother daughter matching Halloween costumes this year. But I don’t want to go over the top. I have seen mother daughter matching outfits that were just simply awful.
