Pet Turtles Are Great

When I was young, my brother and I had pet turtles of our own. We actually found ours in a nearby creek, and we brought them home. We were afraid our mother was going to tell us to take them back, but she allowed us to keep them. She found a glass bowl for them, and they stayed with us for quite a while. I can’t remember what we fed our pet turtles, but we must have gotten something right. In the end, we had to move and she made us take them back where we found them. They survived with us for so long that I worried they wouldn’t make it, but I have a feeling they were just fine.

Though the most popular pets on the United States are dogs and cats, there are many more that work better for some homes and some families. Those that rent find, at times, that furry pets are out of the question, though other types might be okay. When cats and dogs are out, you can always go with something that lives in an aquarium, but do be sure your landlord allows this. There are a lot of fun things you can get, but one of the best ones might be pet turtles. They are pretty low maintenance and they can have a longer life span that other aquarium pets.

Whether you catch your own or find your pet turtles in a pet store, you want to be sure you are feeding them what they need to thrive. Anyone in a pet store should be able to point you in the right direction. You can also look around on the Internet to see what would be best, how often to feed them, and if there are other things you need to do with them to keep them healthy. You may even find a great source of pet turtle food online, and that might mean you can get what you need without having to leave the house. If your pet store is far away, this is a great option to save time and money when caring for your pet turtles.

You may not be able to go out and find your own pet turtles like my brother and I did, but if that works for you, there is no reason why you can’t. For most though, finding turtles for pets means a trip to the local pet store. You can find them in all sizes. Some will grow rather large, and some will remain small. If you live in a small place, the small variety will be a much better choice. You can also find the accessories that you need for your pet turtles in any pet store. You want them to remain happy and healthy.
